I AM BACK

Image
This has been my longest blog hiatus ever! Welcome back to my blog guys. To be honest, I really have no reason why I have been away from the blog for so long. It was just one of those periods where you lack motivation. I resolved to continue blogging this year but somehow it has stretched into June. However, I’ve been thinking about the blog for a few weeks but I wanted to put some things into place and this was taking longer than I thought so I decided to just take the plunge and start anyway. We’ll modify as we go along. NEWS FLASH!!! I started a beauty page on Instagram last year (because I’m beauty obsessed 😃) but it was hard keeping up with all my obligations so I have decided to merge my beauty blog with my personal blog to bring you an all-in-one experience; basically a blog that explores all of my different interests. From inspiration to beauty, business, career and anything in-between will all be shared here on this blog and I cannot wait for you guys to see it al...

Life Update: NYSC, Business and more

Image
Hey guys, It's good to be back here once again. It's been a couple of weeks since my last post and I thought to share with you guys what I have been up to.  I had initially planned a post on something entirely different and it was meant to be a series but for some reason, that hasn't really worked out. If all eventually works out, as I hope it would, I would still put it up. So, what have I been up to recently? Well, first of all; I think Congratulations are in order for me as I successfully completed my One year of National Service this month (*inserts dancing emoji). I know I was never too excited about the whole Service thing but then I am excited that I have crossed it off my to do list and more importantly, it means I can now explore many more options that I was previously held back from doing. Secondly, I know you might not know this cos I didn't really announce it on here but if you follow me on Social media, you would know that I launched a business...

Drown Out the Voices

Image
Hello guys, welcome back to my blog. I received a lot of love on my last blog post and I am truly grateful. I posted the picture above on my Instagram yesterday promising to put the post up today. By the way, if you're not following me on Instagram, you should do so now, I am on Instagram as @ zinogold1 . thank you very much. Back to the business of the day. In the world today, it is very easy to be swept around by the cacophony of voices all around you. There's people constantly advising you on what you should or should not be doing. Family members, friends and of course social media (whether we admit it or not) all have huge roles in our perception of life and the choices we make everyday. The problem is there's so much information, advice, tips, ideas, self-help guides and so on out there that you sometimes end up even more confused. Of course, there's also the negative voices, the naysayers and the people who will try to shoot down every idea you come up...

What Do You Bring to The Table Part 2

Image
Hey guys. How have you all been? I am inspired to put up the second part of my last blog post today. In my last post, I discussed what it meant to "bring something to the table" in our careers and jobs. Like I promised, in today's post, we will be shifting from a professional focus to a more personal level and discuss bringing something to the table in relationships. I once followed a thread on twitter where there was a debate on the roles of both genders in a relationship and i think the discussion was sparked by a guy who tweeted that women are always canvassing for equal gender roles yet they always want men to take care of the bills for them. Several arguments then ensued in favour and against the guys standpoint and many of the arguments raised were actually very valid and this made me think about gender roles, dynamics of a relationship and gender equality (For the record, gender roles and gender equality do not mean the same thing but that is a differen...

What Do You Bring to the Table?

Image
The question posed above is not totally unfamiliar. Many of us have heard it at one point or the other even if just on social media. However, how many of us have really taken the time to ponder on this question deeply and the meaning that the answer has on our lives. If you are asked this question in a job interview, chances are your potential employers want to know what skills or extra flair you can bring aside from what is stated on your resume. They want to know how having “YOU” on their team will be a plus for them. Notice the fact that I put “you” in caps. Let me explain. Most likely, you are not the only one being interviewed for that particular position. If you are being interviewed for the position of an accountant, then all the other candidates bring in their accounting skills to the table. By asking what “You” bring to the table, they want to know what separates you from the rest and why you should be hired in place of candidate B, C and the rest. Havi...

Defining Your Purpose

Image
I have learnt time and time again that our purpose sometimes is beyond what we see at the present. Hey guys, hope you're all doing well? Remember in my last blog post, I talked about starting over? Well, my blog is really going to be doing a lot of that. When I first started blogging, I wasn't sure what I was going to blog about. I love to write but it has always been just a hobby and I never really took it seriously. Actually, I never really believed that I was that good a writer or that I could make a career out of it. That was until I got a job as a content writer. Details on that story in another post 😁 When I also started blogging, my purpose was unclear. Everyone was either a gossip or beauty and fashion blogger. I can't do gossip and I'm not exactly beauty and fashion role model or expert either so I was really confused. I decided to just wing it. This further fueled why I gave up after a while, I didn't even know what I was doing...
