Five Dupes for the Beauty Lover on a Budget

In today’s internet crazy world with tons of bloggers and beauty influencers all around, getting beauty tips is never in short supply.
However, doesn’t it seem like a lot of times, these beauty bloggers are on a constant roll with high end products and brands that you know you definitely cannot afford? I mean, face moisturiser for 25k? Girl bye, lol.
So, if you’re like me and love to look and feel good but still don’t want to end up in the poor house as a result, sit tight and allow me share with you my top five beauty tips for the beauty lover on a budget.

1.DIY beauty hacks: Yes, there are easy DIY hacks which can serve as substitute for some of your skincare products and save you some cash.

Some examples easily come to mind such as using olive oil and sugar as a lip scrub or mixing highlighter and baby oil to substitute for an illuminator (bye bye Fenty). There’s a whole lot more to be found on the internet but be careful, do your research properly before using any DIY hacks as some of these Instagram ideas can actually end badly.

2. Be your own stylist: Frankly, you’d be a little surprised if you take the time to calculate how much you’re spending on salon days. There’s a lot more you can do on your own to save an extra buck.
I typically wash my hair myself at home and allow it air dry instead of going to a salon unless I’m going for something extra. Also, who says you can’t buy your own nail polish and tools? You can do your own polish change once in a while. If you want to go the extra mile, you can get a blow dryer, stretcher or curling iron and handle your weaves too from time to time.

3. Find cheaper dupes to high end cosmetic products: Obviously, you can’t DIY your way through your entire beauty routine. However, there are always cheaper drugstore alternatives to high end makeup, skin and hair care products.

Here are a few of my favourite drugstore products that actually get the work done.
Foundation: BLK/OPL True Colour Stick Foundation
Concealer: LA Girl Pro Conceal or Colorpop No Filter Concealer
Powder: Zaron Mattifying Compact Powder
Toner: BathKandy Facial Toner
Body Lotion: The Nivea range is pretty good
Of course, there are tons of others but that could form another post on its own.

4. Use multitasking products: There are certain products that could do more than one job and as such save you from buying two products. A simple example is buying a moisturising sunscreen so you get your much needed SPF and your skin stays moisturised. Another smart buy is a multitasking toner. Ever heard a product being referred to as a cleansing toner? Yup, this way you’re cleansing and toning at the same time, Smart Girl!

5. Eat healthy and drink lots of water:

Duh, this is a time tested beauty tip, eating lots of healthy fruits and vegetables can provide you with many of the nutrients your skin needs to look beautiful. Avocado, citrus fruits and oily fish are very good for clear skin. Also, drinking lots of water keeps you hydrated and glowing plus it’s good for your overall health, that’s a double win.

I really hope this article has helped in some way. So, if you have been putting up starting a proper skincare routine because you think it’s too expensive; why not try out some of my tips and let me know how it goes?

Love and Light
Zino.
